Pre-Developed Software |

While pre-developed software is usually, though not always, the least expensive, quite often you
won't be able to find exactly what you're looking for. The more unique your situation is, the less likely you
are to find a pre-developed solution that really works. Also, you're inclined to get a plethora of 'features' that you don't want.

Software Integration |

When purchasing software make sure that it has an Application Programming Interface (API).
With APIs you can programmatically get one application to 'talk' to another. That way you can get a degree of 'customization' without
the expense of a fully custom application. Many applications such as Microsoft Office® and Intuit Quickbooks® have extensive APIs.
